Invite-only
Only invited family members and caregivers can see a person's memories.
DeMemos is a design concept for an AI memory companion. It helps people living with dementia stay close to their family through the photos, videos and voices they love.
DeMemos started from a real need. People living with dementia, most often older people at home or in a care home, slowly lose touch with the faces and voices around them. Seeing and hearing their family can help them recognise, remember and feel safe.
So DeMemos splits the work in two. The family member who sets it up does everything: uploads photos, videos and voice recordings, and plans what is shown and when. The person they love only has to watch, listen and, if they like, talk. And because it runs on low-cost phones, tablets, laptops and smart TVs, it can reach families on any budget.
These are the promises DeMemos is designed around.
Only invited family members and caregivers can see a person's memories.
Attention tracking runs on the device. Camera images are never stored or uploaded, and it can be switched off.
The AI only suggests. Plans and new content change only when a family member says yes.
No adverts on any screen, and memories are never sold or shared. Store them on the device or in the cloud.
Not yet. DeMemos is currently a design concept. This website shows how it would look and work.
A family member sets it up: they upload photos, videos and voice recordings and build the Plan. The person living with dementia uses the Patient side, which plays on its own. Caregivers can join to read and write notes.
It learns which memories and themes the person responds to, using on-device attention signals like head movement and time on screen. It then adapts the order, timing and repetition within the family's Plan, and suggests the simplest controls, such as a single "Talk" button.
That's the long-term vision. The most advanced version of DeMemos would create new stories and slideshows from the family's own material and viewing history, always approved by a family member first.
No. The camera is only used to calculate simple signals like head position, on the device itself. No images or video are stored or uploaded, and the family can turn tracking off at any time.
Affordable, everyday hardware: smartphones, tablets, laptops and smart TVs. The Patient side adapts to each screen, and the Family side works on any phone or computer.
The family chooses: on the device itself, or in the cloud so several family members can add to the same collection.
No. DeMemos is a way to share and enjoy memories together. It is not a medical device and doesn't replace professional care or advice.
